Cadbury Relaunches Wispa Gold

After a gap of six years, Cadbury has announced that Wispa Gold is to return for a limited run and will be available in-store from September 14 while stocks last.
The return of Wispa Gold comes as a result of the colossal success of Wispa’s permanent comeback last October amassing an incredible £35m in sales value, from October 2008 to June 2009. In May 2009 Cadbury were delighted to announce that Wispa became the number one selling Chocolate Single on a MAT basis. Now the confectionery manufacturer is expecting a ‘Gold Rush’ during the limited run of this Wispa Gold.
To mark the return of Wispa Gold, three lucky fans will be visiting the Cadbury factory in Bournville to officially launch the production line of the new bar. Going behind the scenes in Cadbury’s famous factory, they will push the button to officially begin production of the Wispa Gold bars. The fans were chosen to represent the thousands of Wispa fans out there who, without their tireless campaigning, the limited edition return of the UK’s most loved chocolate bars wouldn’t be possible.
Kate Harding, Trade Communications Manager for Cadbury, comments “The re-launch of Wispa as a permanent line has been a success story with customers and has resulted in the chocolate singles category having a new number one best seller. You only have to go online to see the passion behind a Wispa Gold return, we have listened to what people want and will be re-launching Wispa Gold for a limited period this September.
Wispa Gold was last on sale in 2003 . There will be a range of POS available to support the limited return including: dump bins, wobblers, counter top units and posters and Cadbury is recommending that Wispa Gold should be merchandised inside dump bins at impulse points throughout the store to drive consumer purchase. Wispa should also be sited next to the impulse chocolate range in the everyday sector and will retail at RRP 55p.
