BOOKER DEAL IS BENEFITS BONANZA FOR MEMBERS

The NFRN has signed a major new trading agreement with Booker which we believe will be of huge benefit to members.

Booker is the largest wholesale supplier to the Federation's members, with nearly 12,000 of the total of 18,000 already being customers.  But the NFRN believes that this can grow much further with the very wide and relevant service offering that Booker provides to the independent retailer.

Through this partnership, Booker is named the recommended supplier to all members.  We will be actively promoting this.

NFRN National President Naresh Purohit said:  "We are delighted to be entering into this agreement with Booker who have so much to offer members and are as committed to helping them as we are.

"Booker can be used as a cash and carry service or provide a delivered service, they can also back members with promotional support, retail development help and even a symbol group package.

"Their recently introduced Euroshopper range can give independent retailers the benefits of an own label range with all this can mean in terms of driving customer loyalty and increasing footfall while providing high margins of 30 per cent for the retailer.  We look forward to working with Booker to provide the best possible support to our members."

The agreement was signed at the November National Council meeting and took effect from January 1.

NFRN head of marketing and business development Graeme Collins commented: "The NFRN has a clear strategy of providing its members with as much relevant and practical support as possible in helping them to run their businesses successfully and already offers them an extensive range of commercial opportunities.

"We have long recognised that to develop the support to the level we desire needs us to be more directly linked with the supply of goods to our members stores.

Steven Fox, director of retail at Booker, said:  "Booker and the NFRN will be working together to provide a complete support package for members.  In today's difficult economic climate I believe Booker offers the best package to increase sales and profits for independent retailers.  I would encourage all NFRN members to take a fresh look at Booker and see how much they could benefit."
