Graeme Collins
Head of marketing

Graeme started working with the Federation eight years ago in a consultancy capacity working on a variety of business development and marketing projects.  His involvement grew increasingly, and two and a half years ago he joined the staff full time in his current position.  His responsibilities have come to include the newly formed Business Development Department, which now looks after commercial activities.

Prior to joining the Federation, Graeme had enjoyed a successful career in advertising and marketing working for such leading companies as Saatchi & Saatchi and McCann Erickson.  Whilst at these companies he developed a particular expertise in retail business working with clients such as Tesco, Spar and Great Universal Stores.

Charles Fleckney
National training and field operations manager

Charles has 24 years experience in retail operations and 17 years experience in human resources.  In 1994, he was recruited by the NFRN as their national training manager and shortly after promoted to national training and field operations manager.  This role effectively encompasses the responsibility for human resources and field operations matters.

Additional responsibilities include: NFRN Helpline, the Federations Call Centre Operation and the Administration Centres in Alloa, Durham, Dublin and Crowthorne.  Head Office facilities also come under Charles’ remit.

David Daniel
Trade relations manager

Following 24 years in the Royal Navy, David joined the NFRN in 1990 as federation secretary, assisting the then chief executive on legal and parliamentary issues.  Promoted to the senior management team in 1993, David took on additional responsibility for head office IT and facilities departments and national meetings administration, including Annual Conference.

Following the departure of other senior personnel in 1995, David had an increasing involvement in newstrade operational matters and competition issues. This has since become David’s major focus of attention, first as corporate affairs manager and latterly as trade relations manager.  David’s unique knowledge of competition law in the context of the news industry plays a major part in the NFRN’s submissions to the Competition Authorities for which he was awarded a Special Services to the News Industry Award in 2004.
