GET BEHIND OLYMPIC OPPORTUNITIES, NEW LONDON DISTRICT PRESIDENT URGES

A rallying call for London newsagents to get behind the 2012 Olympics and take advantage of the opportunities it will bring to local businesses has been made by new London district president Ranjan Patel.

P1010327-opt.jpg In a rousing speech at her inauguration ceremony in Ilford last week, Mrs Patel said: “We have the 2012 Olympics to look forward to when this great city of London will become the focus of the world. We, the local retailers, must ensure that we too are involved and have a fount of information in our shops to attract the many visitors and tourists and, of course, make the most of all the promotions that will be available.”
She also called for publishers and retailers to put past differences aside and  work together to halt the erosion of  newspaper and magazine sales.With incidents of crime increasing against shopkeepers Mrs Patel of Marsh Hill News in Marsh Hill, Hackney said she would be doing all she could to secure meetings with the relevant London authorities to see what more could be done to protect the capital’s retailers.
